Police in Moldova rescued a 62-year-old man who had been buried alive for four days after hearing his muffled cries for help from beneath the ground. According to the British newspaper "Daily Mail," officers discovered the buried man while conducting another investigation, following the discovery of a 74-year-old woman, dead in her home, killed by a relative on Monday.
The police arrested a suspect in the elderly woman's death, who was intoxicated. While searching his home in the same village, the officers heard cries for help coming from near the house, so they followed the noise and began to dig.
They found a man in his sixties, buried in a makeshift grave covered with dirt, with a neck injury, but he was alive and conscious. Police determined that an 18-year-old had buried the elderly man alive. The older man explained that he and the teenager had been drinking together on Saturday before a fight broke out between them, during which the teen attacked him with a knife and buried him alive, covering the entrance with dirt.
