Walid Toufic Participates in the Citadel Festival for Music and Singing in Cairo for the First Time

Lebanese singer Walid Toufic made his debut at the International Citadel Festival for Music and Singing in Cairo yesterday, Saturday, in a concert attended by thousands of Egyptian and Arab fans. Toufic participated in the thirty-first edition of the festival, organized by the Egyptian Opera House in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, marking his return to performing in Egypt after several years.

Toufic addressed the audience, saying, "I missed you, I missed Egypt and its beloved people... Years have separated us; may God never bring back those days of Corona."

For about an hour, the Lebanese artist entertained the concert audience with a selection of his latest songs, including "Ahsab Al-Saada" and "Ya Asal," alongside older hits well-known to the Egyptian audience, such as "Tigi Naqsem Al-Qamar," "Ala Kobri 6 October," "Inzel Ya Gameel Fi Al-Saha," and "Eh Al-Azamti Di Kolaha."

Previously, rhythmic artist Saeed Al-Artiste and his band, along with some young talents, presented various musical performances on the tabla and other instruments, engaging the audience with applause and singing. The choir from the College of Music Education at Helwan University, "Sawt Al-Asimah," performed songs from deceased singers, including Farid El Atrash, Mohamed Qandil, and Karim Mahmoud, as well as songs by Mohamed Mounir and Majida El Roumi.

The festival’s program, which started on August 25 and will extend until September 7, will feature composer Omar Khairat conducting the closing concert.
