On Tuesday, the Minister of Economy in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, met in the Qatari capital, Doha, with the Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, along with several Qatari businessmen who are members of the board, continuing their previous meeting in October 2023.
Salam and bin Jassim discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries. They emphasized the "necessity of activating and reviving Qatari committees to open new doors and opportunities for Lebanon and to assist it in overcoming its economic crises." Salam highlighted the strong Lebanese-Qatari relations under the leadership of the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
He stated, "Lebanon is working on a comprehensive modernization project that includes pathways for political, economic, and administrative modernization, with the investment file being a fundamental pillar of the economic modernization vision."
He called for "building genuine and effective partnerships between Qatari and Lebanese businessmen, with support from the Qatari leadership, and organizing mutual visits for them, preparing for the establishment of profitable joint projects that serve the interests of both brotherly nations."
In conclusion, Salam pointed out that "Lebanese competencies in Qatar are a source of pride and honor and serve as excellent ambassadors for the homeland, receiving praise from many Qatari officials for their contributions to enhancing productivity and knowledge transfer," affirming "his great appreciation for Qatar for the facilities it provides for the entry of qualified Lebanese talents."
For his part, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim described the Lebanese-Qatari relations as "solid and established at all levels," stressing the "commitment to developing them under the directives of the leaderships of the two brotherly countries," noting that "the Qatari Chamber of Commerce has a keen interest in forming economic, commercial, and investment alliances."
