Health experts have revealed a "superfood" that helps regulate blood pressure in the body and maintain gut health. The study showed that "natural yogurt contributes to controlling blood pressure and sugar levels, and it is rich in calcium, magnesium, and fatty acids, which help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes." Nutritionists have long promoted the benefits of natural yogurt, with nutritionist Novella Liu stating that yogurt is "one of the most nutrient-dense whole foods" as it is packed with essential vitamins and minerals for the body.
Novella explained that yogurt is an "excellent source" of calcium, which not only helps maintain strong bones and teeth but also supports "hormone release" and aids in blood clotting. This "superfood" supports the immune system with zinc and "keeps blood pressure under control" thanks to potassium. Scientists from Harvard University reported that consuming 28 grams of yogurt daily was associated with an 18% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes, while another study showed that a daily serving of natural yogurt could reduce blood pressure in individuals with hypertension.
Researchers also suggested that the bacteria present in yogurt may help enhance the release of proteins that lower blood pressure. Tim Spector, a professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London, stated, "It seems that yogurt supports the immune system, which is crucial in fighting allergies, inflammation, cancer, and aging, thanks to its interaction with gut bacteria." Consulting a healthcare professional is recommended before applying any health advice.
