The Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, held a meeting in Manama with the Bahraini Minister of Tourism, Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sairafi, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries. This meeting is part of a series of discussions held by Salam during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the 33rd Arab Summit. Minister Al-Sairafi emphasized "the importance of driving bilateral relations toward broader horizons," noting "the continuous progress in joint cooperation across all levels, including the tourism, travel, and hospitality sectors, which contribute significantly to GDP and accelerate national development in both brotherly countries."
She also addressed the significance of the meetings taking place during the "Bahrain Summit," including the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League, in supporting tourism integration among Arab countries and increasing intra-Arab tourism rates. This, in turn, enhances the contribution of the tourism sector to national development in these countries and strengthens social, cultural, and historical integration among their peoples.
For his part, Minister Salam affirmed "the importance of enhancing exchange between Lebanon and Bahrain, especially in trade, industry, and tourism, due to their major role in revitalizing economies and promoting growth." He underscored the need for persistent efforts to make Lebanon a tourist destination again, pointing out that to activate the tourism calendar and cooperation between our countries, it is essential to restore direct flights between Manama and Beirut.
