Residents of the capital, Beirut, have complained about the proliferation of mosquitoes and flies in the streets, neighborhoods, and inside homes and offices. They have also reported suffering from venomous bites that cause severe redness and swelling on the skin. In a statement, the residents urged "the Beirut Municipality to take swift action and initiate a spraying campaign in the streets with suitable pesticides to eliminate this proliferation leading to the spread of epidemics."
