After the Death of a Child Inside a Car: Sharjah Police Warn Parents

The General Command of Sharjah Police has warned parents of students about the dangers of hiring unlicensed drivers to transport their children to and from school, as this poses serious risks to their safety due to the driver's ignorance of safety procedures mandated by the authorities, thus endangering the children's lives. This warning follows a report received by the operations room on Tuesday afternoon regarding the death of a child inside a vehicle in one of the regions of the Emirate of Sharjah. Upon the arrival of the concerned teams and investigating the circumstances of the incident, it was revealed that a parent of Asian nationality had contracted a driver to take his children to school. Upon arrival, all the children exited except for a 7-year-old child, and the driver parked the vehicle next to the school, locked it without ensuring it was empty, and left with her husband. When it was time for students to leave, the child was found dead inside the vehicle. The Sharjah Police General Command urged parents to use designated school buses that provide all safety measures and are subject to ongoing oversight by relevant authorities, or for parents to personally transport their children to school, as they would be more diligent in ensuring their complete care and maximum safety.
