UN Concern Over the Situation at the Lebanon-Israel Border

The military scene at the southern border has escalated in recent hours, with Israel continuing its threats of launching a broader operation in Lebanon. This prompted the spokesperson for UNIFIL, Andrea Tenenti, to describe the situation on the border between Lebanon and Israel as "concerning." He stated in a television interview: "There is a possibility of further escalating tensions in the border area," noting that "we have communication channels with the Lebanese authorities and the Israeli army to prevent any widespread conflict." Tenenti considered that "an expansion of the conflict would be a disaster not only for Lebanon but for the entire region," hoping that "the international community will play a larger role than before to reach a solution to the existing situation."
