The Chairman of the Finance Committee, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, wrote on "X": "There may be benefits in repetition and a lesson for those who still believe the narratives of some soothsayers and self-proclaimed experts in knowledge and virtue. Here are the following established facts: 1- The agreement with the IMF has not ended, and the recent statement from the mission, which I referred to a few days ago, alongside the position of government representatives issued yesterday, is proof of that, much to the misfortune of those attempting to erase deposits and distribute accusations and nationalistic testimonies. 2- Referring also to the mission's statement, it is evident that the law for restructuring banks, which these individuals have fabricated myths about its obstruction in the parliament, remains with the government to this day, just like the 2024 budget, which the government claimed to have completed more than a week ago. Lastly, what we discussed calmly and clearly with the IMF mission, in addition to what has been achieved so far administratively and legislatively and the importance of completing it, is the fate of the deposits and the imbalances within the government’s law for their recovery, which is devoid of any serious or practical substance in the absence of neutral scrutiny into the assets and holdings of the banks and the state. Congratulations to you, seers, for the faint voices that you failed to exploit in order to continue distorting our position, established facts, and covering up the government's and banks' evasion of their responsibilities for the past four years to this day."
