The Ministry of Digital Development in Kazakhstan announced that Beijing and Astana have agreed to expand cooperation in space research. A statement from the ministry said: "In the framework of the first meeting of the subcommittee on innovation cooperation between the two countries, which was held in Astana, Kazakhstan and China agreed to expand cooperation in the field of space research."
The statement added: "The subcommittee decided to expand cooperation in the implementation of joint scientific and innovative projects in space research and the use of small satellites. The First Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan discussed several key issues aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields with the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, including the development of 5G networks, aerospace, and space industries."
According to the ministry, the meeting also discussed the possibility of creating joint research centers, as well as financing some innovative research projects in the fields of aerospace and e-commerce. Last year, Kazakhstan approved a project to develop the space industry for the period from 2023 to 2029, aiming to establish a self-sufficient space industry in the country.
