The Moroccan newspaper "Les Événements 24" reported yesterday, Sunday, that the toll from the food poisoning incident affecting diners at a fast-food establishment in the popular Mohammedia area of Marrakech has risen to 5 fatalities. The newspaper stated that one of the deceased was a woman who had left the hospital last week, only for her health to deteriorate, leading to her death on Sunday, May 5.
The details of the incident date back to the previous week, when 26 individuals, including two police officers, fell victim to fatal food poisoning after consuming a "sandwich" from one of the fast-food outlets in the Mohammedia neighborhood of Marrakech, resulting in the deaths of 5 people.
"Les Événements 24" noted that the owner of the establishment in question has been subjected to legal proceedings while in custody, facing charges of "involuntary manslaughter and removal of evidence from the crime scene." The newspaper also reported that security authorities have closed the establishment responsible for this tragedy.
