The Finance and Budget Committee, chaired by MP Ibrahim Kanaan, convened in the House of Representatives, with the attendance of the Minister of Finance in the caretaker government, Youssef Khalil, and a representative from the Central Bank of Lebanon, to discuss the spending of Special Drawing Rights (SDR) funds and the legal basis the government used for this expenditure. Kanaan announced via "Al-Jadid" that "the government should clarify the basis for spending approximately 1.14 billion dollars from Lebanon's rights, and whether it is permissible to open a special account for any institution or government in clear violation."
