China Welcomes UN Decision Supporting Full Membership for Palestine

China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Tsong, affirmed that his country "welcomes the historic decision adopted by the UN General Assembly to support Palestinian efforts to attain full membership in the United Nations." In his speech during an emergency special session of the General Assembly, he highlighted that "the establishment of an independent state has been a long-awaited aspiration for the Palestinian people," considering that "achieving full membership is a critical step in this historic process." He emphasized the "shared responsibility of the international community to support and enhance all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving peace in the Middle East and a two-state solution."
