Lebanon Women's Team Advances to Quarterfinals

The Lebanon women's basketball team (under 25 years old) will face the Republic of the Congo in the quarterfinals of the Francophonie Games, hosted in Kinshasa. The match is scheduled for 2:15 PM on Tuesday, August 1st, Beirut time, and a victory for the Lebanese team will guarantee their advancement to the semifinals of the event.

Lebanon had previously topped the overall standings in Group A (the women's competition consists of three groups) by achieving three wins in the first round, defeating strong Romania (68-57), the Democratic Republic of Congo (61-53), and Chad (126-23), thereby concluding their first-round matches and qualifying for the quarterfinals.

All participating countries in the women’s competition of the current Francophonie Games are fielding complete teams with top players, unlike Lebanon, which competes with players under 25 years old, who possess a high level of skill. It’s worth noting that the Lebanon senior women's team is part of the elite Asian-Oceanian countries (level one). The Lebanese team is led by coach Nelly Nassar.

Here are the names of the players: Melodie Snaer, Matilda Khalil, Yasha Zenon, Perla Bou Nasr, Qamar Mansour, Yasmina Abu Samra, Katrin Imad, Yara Al Aridi, Patil Asadorian, Yasmin Lahoud, Mariam Jam'a, and Nour Ghosn.
