Rare Event in Egypt's History: What Happened in Cairo Today?

Today, Monday, the Board of Directors of Al Ahly Club visited Zamalek Club in a friendly visit, responding to an invitation received from the officials of the white fortress. The Al Ahly board was supposed to accept the invitation earlier, but the circumstances surrounding the Al Ahly family and the health issues of Minister Amr Farouk, the club’s vice president who passed away three weeks ago, led to the delay. This visit is considered historic as it is the first of its kind in years.

The friendly visit aims to "strengthen the close relationships between the two great clubs and their long-standing fans throughout the ages," according to the official statement issued by Al Ahly management. The statement described that "the distinguished relations between the two pillars of Egyptian sports are always present everywhere, and both carry great appreciation for each other despite the fair competition between the clubs in various sports."

Al Ahly noted that the recent period has seen many positive gestures that reflect the bonds of love and goodwill between the major sports entities that contribute to the support and backing of all national teams.

Hours after the invitation, Zamalek Club announced the termination of Mortada Mansour’s membership, revealing the reason for this decision. On its official account on the "X" platform, Zamalek issued a statement which read: "The Board of Directors of Zamalek Club, headed by Hussein Labib, decided to terminate Mortada Mansour’s membership due to his failure to meet the conditions for acquiring general membership in accordance with the provisions of Articles 8 and 12 of the club's basic system."

According to "Masrawy" website, the third clause of Article 8 of Zamalek's basic regulations states that a member shall not be deprived of exercising his civil rights, and no final judgments have been issued against him for a felony or a misdemeanor involving dishonor or trustworthiness.
