Iraq Hosts the Ninth Arab Chemistry Olympiad for the First Time

The Iraqi Chemists' Association announced today, Thursday, the hosting of the Ninth Arab Chemistry Olympiad for the first time in Iraq. In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the head of the Chemists' Association and President of the Arab Chemists Union for the 38th cycle, Raghda Al-Dijaily, stated: "The Ninth Arab Chemistry Olympiad is taking place for the first time in Iraq, and we hope it will be the foundation for future Olympiads."

She added: "The Olympiad will take place at the university level, as well as for master's and doctoral degrees," noting that "the number of Arab countries that are members of the Arab Chemists Union has reached 16, while only 6 countries participated (Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Morocco, and Yemen)."

Al-Dijaily explained that "the Olympiad will feature practical and theoretical tests in chemistry, taking place for the first time in Iraq, and valuable prizes will be awarded to the winners." She specified that "the prizes will be awarded at three levels: the gold prize, which is a statue of the Iraqi chemistry symbol Kufi Jabir ibn Hayyan, in addition to bronze and silver prizes that will be represented by a sitting atom on a chemical flask."
