US Army: We Destroyed 3 Drones in Houthi-Controlled Areas in Yemen

The US Central Command announced early on Friday that its forces engaged with and destroyed 3 drones in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. A statement from the command on "X" indicated that these drones were deemed an "imminent threat" to US forces, coalition forces, and commercial shipping in the region. The statement added: "These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and to make international waters safer for US, coalition, and commercial vessels."

On Thursday, the Houthi group announced that five American-British airstrikes targeted Al Hudaydah International Airport in western Yemen. Houthi-affiliated official media reported that "American-British airstrikes targeted Al Hudaydah International Airport in western Yemen with five strikes." The Houthi group did not provide further details regarding the outcomes of these airstrikes, and there has been no comment from either the US or British side. Since the beginning of this year, a coalition led by Washington has been conducting airstrikes that it claims are targeting Houthi positions in various areas of Yemen in response to their attacks on commercial shipping and international navigation in the Red Sea.
