Ongoing Consultations in Parliament: Prime Minister Clarifies Stance on Defense Minister and President Relations

As consultations continue within the Parliament to reach a consensus that allows for the completion of the session and the approval of the general amnesty law with the broadest consensus today, MP Sajeea Attia told Speaker Berri: "I'll tell you the solution, Mr. Speaker; invite the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister for dinner at your place, because frankly, it seems the President's atmosphere is in one place and the Prime Minister's atmosphere in another."

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam intervened, saying: "Please, no one should involve the President in the matter and talk about incorrect atmospheres. My relationship with the Defense Minister is excellent, and I meant what I said literally. It was the Defense Minister who said: If I'm not going to speak, I won't attend the session, so I told him, fine, I will deliver a speech representing the entire government."
