The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division reported that "on December 17, 2023, a citizen claimed that her housemaid (A.D., born in 1991, Ethiopian) stole an amount of $9,000 from inside her home located in the Saida area and fled to an unknown location. Following this, the Internal Security Forces initiated actions to determine the whereabouts of the thief and apprehend her. As a result of extensive investigations and inquiries, the Information Division managed to identify her location inside a house in the Aley area.
On January 3, 2024, after precise surveillance of the house and confirming the presence of the suspect inside, one of the division's patrols raided the place and successfully arrested her. During the investigation, she confessed to the charges of committing the theft from the house where she worked in Saida and revealed that she was in a romantic relationship with a Syrian national, who had coerced her into committing the act by blackmailing and threatening to publish inappropriate photos of her.
The legal procedures were carried out against her, and she was placed in the custody of the relevant authority based on judicial instructions, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other involved individual."
