Another military advisor affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard was killed today, Friday, in Syria, adding to the group of Revolutionary Guard leaders recently killed in strikes believed to be carried out by Israel targeting sites of groups allied with Tehran in Syria. Iranian semi-official news outlets, including Mehr news agency, reported that an advisor of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Damascus was killed in an "Israeli" missile attack that targeted an area south of the Syrian capital.
Earlier, the Syrian Arab News Agency quoted a military source stating that the army shot down several Israeli missiles launched from the Golan Heights, targeting southern Damascus. Mehr news agency only provided the name of the deceased, identified as Saeed Alidadi, mentioning that he worked as an advisor in the Revolutionary Guard without specifying his rank.
**High Ranking Leader**
Not much information is available about the deceased, but Rami Abdul Rahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, noted that Alidadi "is a high-ranking leader of the Revolutionary Guard present in Syria." Abdul Rahman further stated to "Al-Hurra" that "his brother was a general in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and was killed in 2015 in an Israeli strike that also resulted in the death of Imad Mughniyeh's cousin, Jihad, at the border with the Golan Heights."
Abdul Rahman clarified that "it is unknown what role Alidadi was performing, but he is one of the important leaders present in Syria." He pointed out that "the deceased came to Syria after the death of his brother General Ali Allah Dadi."
The Israeli strike on Friday targeted a cattle farm in southern Damascus, a region known to be controlled by the Lebanese Hezbollah, according to Abdul Rahman. He revealed that "the Israeli operation also resulted in the death of an Iraqi national and another person whose identity is still unknown."
