In a significant security development, resistance forces in southern Lebanon shot down an Israeli drone using a ground-to-air missile. The Israeli Army Radio confirmed that the drone was of the "Kochav" type, Hermes 900, one of the largest and most expensive drones in the Israeli Air Force fleet.
The Israeli military spokesman acknowledged the drone's downing, stating: "A ground-to-air missile was fired at an unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the Israeli Air Force that was flying over Lebanon, resulting in its damage and crash in Lebanese territory, and an investigation into the incident is underway."
Hezbollah quickly claimed responsibility for the downing and stated in a statement: "In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in solidarity with their valiant and honorable resistance, after monitoring and precise surveillance of the enemy's drones conducting assassinations and targeting safe homes, the Islamic resistance fighters ambushed a Hermes 900 drone that was attacking our people and villages and targeted it with appropriate weaponry over Lebanese territory, resulting in its downing."
