Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense announced today, Sunday, that it will discuss with the United States how to utilize the funding allocated to the island as part of a legislative package worth $95 billion, most of which is for security assistance to Ukraine and Israel. The Taiwanese defense ministry expressed gratitude to the U.S. House of Representatives for approving the legislative package on Saturday, stating that this demonstrates strong U.S. support for Taiwan. The ministry confirmed that it "will coordinate the use of the relevant budget with the United States through existing exchange mechanisms and will work diligently to enhance combat readiness capabilities to ensure national security and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait." The United States is the main country that supports and supplies arms to Taiwan, despite the lack of formal diplomatic relations between them. Taiwan, which has a democratic government, is facing increasing military pressure from China, which considers the island part of its territory. The Taiwanese government rejects this claim.
