The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) stated that the United States still views the Israeli operation in Rafah as "limited," two days after airstrikes on the city in southern Gaza resulted in casualties and prompted international condemnations. Pentagon Press Assistant Sabrina Singh said at a press conference, "We still consider what is happening in Rafah, what the Israeli military is doing, to be limited in scope." She added, "We acknowledge the legitimacy of Israeli military movements against Hamas, but we do not support a large-scale operation in Rafah."
