Assassination of Government Official in Shiraz: Who Is He?

Iranian state media reported today, Sunday, that unknown gunmen assassinated a local government official in Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province in southern Iran. The Tasnim news agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard, stated that "unknown gunmen opened fire on the district five mayor of Shiraz, engineer Reza Masoudi." It added that "security forces closed the Shiraz City Council hall immediately after the announcement of engineer Reza Masoudi's murder by unknown gunmen." Meanwhile, Iranian news websites indicated that "gunmen stormed the local government building, the Shiraz Provincial Council, and opened fire on Reza Masoudi."
