The President of Iraq, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed today, Monday, that Iraq has the opportunity to become one of the most advanced countries in the region. The President's media office stated in a statement that "Rashid received the Governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Aidani, at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad."
It was clarified that "at the beginning of the meeting, the President handed the governor the presidential decree appointing him as the governor of Basra and congratulated him on taking office for a second term," expressing "his wishes for success in his duties."
The President emphasized "the importance of exerting more efforts to serve the Basra governorate and its people, providing services, and implementing projects that would elevate the reality of the governorate," confirming that "the people of Basra deserve much because they have endured exceptional circumstances, in addition to the city's historical significance and its vast resources and potentials."
He added that "Iraq is rich in human and natural resources, and it has the opportunity to be one of the most advanced countries in the region if these resources are employed correctly to serve the people." He indicated that "the doors of the Presidency are open to provide support and assistance to the governorate in hosting cultural and literary festivals, like the Al-Murbid Festival, as well as sports and youth championships."
For his part, the governor reviewed "the efforts made to improve the security, economic, and commercial conditions of the governorate, as well as the plans to provide drinking water and the endeavors to support and develop the private sector and investment, to create job opportunities and eliminate unemployment."
