Emir of Qatar Begins Official Visit to Cyprus

The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, arrived today, Monday, in Nicosia, the capital of the Republic of Cyprus. The Qatari News Agency "QNA" reported that the visit of the Emir of Qatar is "official," followed by a state visit to the Hellenic Republic of Greece.

Upon his arrival at Larnaca International Airport, the Emir was welcomed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides. The official visit aims to open new horizons for relations between the two countries and to begin a new phase of economic cooperation.

According to Qatari media, this visit is expected to mark a qualitative leap in the strong bilateral relations established between the two nations at all levels, serving the common goals and interests of both countries. Both sides are keen on elevating their relations to an advanced level.

Qatari-Cypriot relations date back to 2001 and have continued to develop, culminating in the opening of embassies in both capitals, Doha and Nicosia. The Cypriot embassy in Doha was opened in 2004, and the Qatari embassy in Nicosia in 2007, which was the first Gulf embassy in the Republic of Cyprus.
