The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati revealed that his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia was based on honesty, noting that "bin Salman expressed his support for Lebanon to emerge from its crisis and to support its institutions, but on the condition of implementing the required structural reforms and for Lebanese institutions to play their full role, especially in electing a new president for Lebanon." Mikati indicated in an interview with the newspaper "Al-Riyadh" that "bin Salman was clear in his approach, emphasizing that the priority is for the Lebanese to fulfill their duties and essential reforms, and to prevent any threat to the kingdom's security and safety."
In this context, he clarified that "the Lebanese government is taking all necessary measures to prevent any repeated threats to Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country and to stop any contraband that threatens the safety of the Saudi community emanating from Lebanon." The caretaker Prime Minister also noted that "through communication with bin Salman, I sensed his concern for Lebanon's security and stability and for the continuation of the humanitarian support that Saudi Arabia provides to the Lebanese people," adding: "I am confident that the kingdom has been and will remain the elder brother of Lebanon, seeking in all Arab and international forums to maintain its security, stability, safety, and the unity of its people."
Additionally, Mikati considered that "what is happening in the kingdom has brought about a genuine constructive revolution through a reform workshop that has developed the concept of modernity in the kingdom and achieved significant qualitative leaps recognized by all." He affirmed that the regional agreements made by the kingdom will contribute to establishing stability in the region and will advance the process of growth and development.
