Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani emphasized today, Monday, that "citizens should not bear additional costs for electronic payments at fuel stations," while highlighting the importance of focusing on the rapid development of the oil sector. The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement that "Sudani chaired the regular meeting today to follow up on the progress of the projects of the Ministry of Oil and the ministry's efforts to develop and expand oil sector facilities." It noted that "during the meeting, the progress in the execution of the ministry's projects and plans, the rate of achievement, the development of extraction operations, and the utilization of associated gas were reviewed, in addition to the progress of refinery projects and the refining capacities of petroleum products."
The statement added that "the Prime Minister received a comprehensive presentation on the execution of petroleum product transportation projects, the plans followed for the distribution of petroleum products across different provinces, as well as monitoring the applications of electronic payment at fuel stations, emphasizing the necessity for citizens to bear no additional costs or burdens resulting from this transition. The conditions of the production of petroleum derivatives and fuels were discussed, alongside the aim of achieving self-sufficiency to meet local consumption needs without resorting to imports."
Sudani reiterated his earlier directives regarding the importance of quickly developing the oil sector in line with the rapid growth of other sectors in the national economy, supporting citizens' aspirations, improving their living conditions, and bolstering infrastructure development efforts across various fields.
