U.S. President Joe Biden commented on the murder of a 6-year-old Palestinian child and the serious injury of the child's mother due to their religion and the Israeli war on Gaza. Biden stated in a statement: "Jill and I were shocked and disgusted to learn of the brutal killing of a 6-year-old child and the attempted murder of the child's mother in their home yesterday in Illinois." He added: "The family of the Palestinian Muslim child came to America in search of what we all strive for: a refuge to live, learn, and pray in peace." He continued: "This horrific act of hate has no place in America, and it contradicts our core values: freedom from fear regarding how we pray, what we believe, and who we are." Biden emphasized that as Americans, "we must unite and reject Islamophobia and all forms of bigotry and hate. I have said repeatedly that I will not be silent in the face of hate. There is no place in America for hate against anyone." He concluded his statement by extending condolences to the family, saying: "We join everyone here at the White House in sending our condolences and prayers to the family, including for the healing of the mother, and to the broader American Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim communities." Earlier, American police charged a 71-year-old man with committing a "hate crime" after he killed the 6-year-old Palestinian child by stabbing him 26 times with a large military knife and seriously injured the mother with over 12 stabs at a home located in Plainfield, about 65 kilometers southwest of Chicago.
