Israeli President: I Will Provide Netanyahu and His Government with Support

Israeli President Isaac Herzog pledged to support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in finalizing a deal for the release of prisoners, as part of a proposal announced by U.S. President Joe Biden aimed at achieving a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He stated, "I want to thank President Biden for his speech and ongoing efforts to secure the release of all prisoners held by Hamas in Gaza," adding, "In this context, I informed the Prime Minister that I will provide him and the government with my full support for the deal that will see the release of the prisoners." Herzog's commitment to support Netanyahu comes after two far-right Israeli ministers threatened on Saturday to withdraw from the Prime Minister's coalition government if he proceeded with the ceasefire proposal announced by Biden.
