The Iraqi National Security Service announced the seizure of one of the largest counterfeit manufacturing facilities in Basra. According to a statement, "after receiving intelligence about an industrial facility in the Zubair area of Basra producing counterfeit motor oils in quantities reaching thousands of liters and under well-known brand names, the economic security units of our agency, after obtaining judicial approvals, raided the factory site and arrested five suspects of foreign nationalities. The facility was officially closed, and the suspects were referred to the relevant authorities." The statement continued, "the national security units seized two tank vehicles loaded with smuggled gasoline estimated at 45,000 liters with official documents that differ in the product type from motor oil to gasoline." It noted that "two vehicles were seized and officially delivered to the Dora refinery, and the drivers were arrested and found to be involved in previous smuggling operations."
