Title: Al-Mandalawi: Significant Contributions of Religious Leaders in Defending Iraq

The acting Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, noted today, Saturday, that "the contributions of religious leaders are significant in defending Iraq and preserving its societal fabric. He called on religious leaders to support the efforts of the government and Parliament and to continue combating religious and ideological extremism." The media office of the acting Speaker of Parliament stated that "Al-Mandalawi conducted a field tour at the Qadiriya sanctuary, accompanied by Deputy Hassan Al-Khafaji, where he was welcomed by the caretaker of the sanctuary, Sheikh Khalid Al-Kailani, Sheikh Afeef Al-Din Al-Kailani, and a group of esteemed scholars and sheikhs." Al-Mandalawi emphasized "the role and status of religious leaders and their significant contributions in defending Iraq and maintaining the societal fabric throughout history and during the difficult circumstances that Iraq has endured." He added that "the cooperation between the legislative and executive branches has expedited the steps towards achievement and reform, while also urging the sheikhs to contribute to supporting the government and the Parliament, in addition to combating religious and ideological extremism and promoting a spirit of tolerance and coexistence among people."
