What Organs Can a Human Live Without?

Various organs in the human body perform essential functions necessary for life and vital activity. According to the journal "Communications Chemistry," scientists from China have found that a person can live without certain organs and systems in their body. According to them, a person can live without:

1. **Appendix** - Once believed to play a role in digesting cellulose, it no longer plays a key part in digestion. Nevertheless, it still provides useful functions, such as supporting gut bacteria and producing immunoglobulin.

2. **Gallbladder** - A small pouch-like organ that serves as a reservoir for bile, an enzyme produced by the liver that participates in digestion.

3. **Lungs** - A person can live a normal life with just one lung.

4. **Stomach** - The stomach can be removed due to malignant diseases; however, an individual can live if they adhere to a special diet and follow doctors' guidance.

5. **Kidneys** - Responsible for filtering blood and producing hormones. Today, kidney transplantation is a common medical procedure that allows those with renal failure to continue living full lives.

It turns out that a person can live a normal life without a stomach, one kidney, or one lung, as long as they follow a specific diet and comply with restrictions and doctors' instructions. Researchers previously announced that a person could live a normal life without ten organs.
