The local unit of Marsa Alam city in Egypt announced today, Thursday, that it received a notification from the electricity company regarding the complete power outage in the city. They stated, "The electricity cut is due to maintenance work on the Marsa Alam transformer station, and the power will be completely cut off from Marsa Alam city, as well as all tourist villages north and south of Marsa Alam and the village of Bernice."
It was noted that the power cut will start at 12 AM midnight on Thursday and will continue until Friday, pending the completion of maintenance work, with no specified duration for the electricity cut. It is worth mentioning that the cities of the Red Sea governorate have been exempt from the cabinet crisis management committee's plan to reduce electrical loads since the plan's full implementation across various governorates, aimed at ensuring a continuous power supply to all hotels and tourist villages for 24 hours.
