Chinese Envoy: Russia and Ukraine Believe the Crisis Will Be Resolved Through Talks

Chinese special envoy for Eurasian affairs Li Hui affirmed that both Russia and Ukraine believe their crisis will ultimately be resolved through negotiations, despite each side holding firm to its positions and significant disagreements regarding peace talks. He stated that Russia has appreciated China's efforts during its recent shuttle diplomacy in Europe, which Ukraine also deemed important. Despite differences in views on peace negotiations, the envoy remarked, "They all still believe that this crisis will ultimately be resolved" via those means. He added: "China wishes to hold an international peace conference recognized by both Russia and Ukraine, with equal participation." The envoy indicated that China is proposing suggestions to facilitate a ceasefire with the sole aim of ensuring the success of the peace conference.
