Lebanese Among Those Trapped in Building Collapse in Abidjan (Video)

A building collapsed in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, today, Tuesday, with workers of Lebanese nationality inside. It was reported that the building housed families from the Lebanese community, and rescue teams are continuing their work to retrieve individuals trapped under the rubble. Additionally, the national radio in Ivory Coast, "RTI," mentioned that the building collapsed in Riviera Palmeraie in Abidjan.

Initial reports indicated the presence of Lebanese workers inside the building and noted that, so far, there have been no recorded fatalities. Reports highlighted that missing Lebanese workers were rescued from the collapsed building in Abidjan, with only minor injuries sustained.

This is not the first time a building has collapsed amid the prevailing housing chaos; in July, the Ministry of Construction in Ivory Coast reported that at least six people died and nine others were injured in the collapse of an under-construction building in Abidjan. In February and March 2023, 13 people lost their lives in the collapse of two buildings, one of which was being constructed without a permit, and the other was built illegally.
