Settlers attacked the town of Turmus'aya northeast of Ramallah today, injuring 12 citizens with live ammunition and setting fire to several homes and vehicles, under the protection of the Israeli army. The mayor, Lafi Adib, told the Palestine News Agency (Wafa) that about 400 settlers assaulted the town, resulting in the injuries of 12 citizens by gunfire, burning 30 homes, and more than 60 vehicles. Adib added that settlers ignited dozens of dunams of land, leading to the destruction of agricultural crops, and flames are still burning at the moment.
He called on the international community to provide necessary protection, noting that the town is surrounded by several settlement outposts and faces daily assaults from settlers. According to eyewitnesses, a number of settlers fired live bullets at citizens in the town, coinciding with a large incursion by Israeli forces. The Red Crescent Society reported to Wafa that some settlers prevented ambulances from reaching the town to aid the wounded.
Concerns have been raised about a potential upcoming attack by settlers in neighboring towns, as there is a gathering of a number of them at the entrance of the town of Sinjil.
Eyewitnesses reported that hundreds of settlers have moved to the town of Awrof, south of Nablus, where they are attempting to burn homes and vehicles.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry demanded an immediate halt to the assaults by Israeli settlers in several Palestinian villages in the West Bank, which have resulted in casualties and injuries among Palestinian civilians, alongside the destruction and vandalism of numerous properties without intervention from Israeli authorities. The ministry expressed its complete rejection of acts of intimidation, terror, and collective punishment targeting Palestinian citizens, reiterating its previous warnings about the risks and consequences of ongoing escalation by Israel, including the recent incursion into the city of Jenin two days ago, which resulted in casualties and injuries amid cycles of escalating violence.
