Egyptian investigative authorities have issued a decision to detain former parliamentarian Ragab Helal Hamida after he was sentenced in four cases involving the issuance of checks without sufficient funds, totaling 8 years of imprisonment. The authorities informed security forces to execute the order, following the court's ruling sentencing the former MP to one year in prison with labor and a bail of 1,000 Egyptian pounds, along with his obligation to pay the court costs, for issuing a check without funds to citizen Ahmed Abdel Hamid Ibrahim for an amount of 500,000 Egyptian pounds. It was revealed that when he attempted to cash the check at the bank, it came back as having insufficient funds.
Additionally, the same court had previously sentenced the former MP to three years in prison and a bail of 5,000 Egyptian pounds for issuing another check without funds. A few days later, he was sentenced in a third case for issuing a check to citizen Hisham Farag Abdel Aal without funds, resulting in a two-year prison sentence and a bail of 2,000 Egyptian pounds. Shortly after these rulings, a fourth citizen approached the same court with another check without funds signed by the former MP, leading to the court's final ruling of a two-year prison sentence with labor and a bail of 2,000 Egyptian pounds, along with the court costs.
