The army leadership and the residents of the town of Shmishtar-Baalbek honored Corporal Abdul Karim Al-Muqdad, who was martyred due to shelling on a military center of the army in southern Lebanon by the Israeli enemy on 5/12/2023. The funeral began in front of the government hospital in Zahle, where the necessary honoring ceremonies were held, and he was awarded war medals, wounded medals, and a bronze military commendation. The body was then transported to his hometown of Shmishtar, where a memorial service was held in the presence of representatives from the Minister of National Defense Maurice Sleem and Army Commander Major General Joseph Aoun, along with Brigadier General Abdul Nasser Al-Halabi, who delivered a speech on the occasion, stating: "Another hero of the army rises on the path of honor, sacrifice, and loyalty, Corporal martyr Abdul Karim Al-Muqdad, whom we bid farewell after he gave his soul in the steadfast south while fulfilling his sacred duty, defending Lebanon against the Israeli enemy."
