"Grain Pill" Claims Her Life in Egypt

A young housewife committed suicide by ingesting a toxic "grain pill" yesterday, Thursday, in Gharbia Governorate, Egypt, leaving behind a small infant daughter. The young woman, Nourhan Mohamed Salem (21 years old), from the village of Abiar in Kafr El Zayat, died after consuming the toxic "grain pill." She was taken to the emergency department of Tanta University Hospital, suffering from severe illness, vomiting, and diarrhea. Despite being placed on a ventilator, she breathed her last.

Social media pages in Gharbia mourned the deceased young woman, whom several of her acquaintances said was married and struggled with depression, leaving behind her two-year-old daughter. The criminal investigation department was tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, a report was filed, and the public prosecutor was notified to conduct an investigation, which ordered an autopsy and burial at her family's cemetery.
