Peskov: Russia Welcomes Any Peace Initiatives Regarding Ukraine

The spokesperson for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, announced that Russia welcomes any peace initiatives related to Ukraine, noting that the topic of this conflict will be discussed during the talks in China, according to the TASS news agency. He added in a press statement from Beijing, on the sidelines of President Vladimir Putin's visit, "The subject of Ukraine will certainly be discussed. In general, we welcome any peaceful initiatives, and Moscow is, of course, impressed by the Chinese side's vision for potential prospects and the possible groundwork to begin some attempts to resolve the situation."

He confirmed that "this is just the beginning of the conversation and that there is very intense discussion awaiting us in this area. Peskov concluded by saying, "We know the situation on the Ukrainian side, which in fact, even legally, now excludes the possibility of conducting negotiations with Russia, so this process is lengthy, but the constructive position of the Chinese side is appealing to us." President Vladimir Putin began a two-day state visit to China on Wednesday evening, the first since his re-election as president.
