The Lebanese women's basketball team (under 25) has qualified for the semifinals of the Francophonie Games hosted in Kinshasa, after decisively defeating the Congo Brazzaville team with a score of 77-46 in the quarterfinal match held on Tuesday afternoon. The players from the land of the cedars dominated most of the game, finishing the first quarter 21-10, the second quarter 32-24, and the third quarter 57-37 in their favor. The match concluded with a significant victory for Lebanon (77-46), showcasing a strong and high-level performance from the winning team.
Previously, Lebanon topped the overall standings of Group A (the women's competition consists of three groups) with three victories in the preliminary round from three matches, defeating the strong Romania (68-57), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (61-53), and Chad (126-23). This accomplishment allowed them to advance to the quarterfinals, where they triumphed over Congo Brazzaville on Tuesday, earning their place in the semifinals undefeated.
All participating countries in the current women's competition of the Francophonie Games are represented by fully assembled teams with first-tier players, unlike Lebanon, which is competing with players under 25 years of age who possess high levels of skill. It is noteworthy that Lebanon's senior women’s team is ranked among the elite teams in Asia-Oceania (first level).
