Israeli Police Find Stolen Tank in Scrap Yard

Israeli police announced on Wednesday that they discovered a stolen tank in a scrap yard in the north of the country, after it had been stolen the previous night from a military base. The tank was found based on a report made by a representative of the Ministry of Defense. The Israeli Army Radio reported on Wednesday that a tank was stolen from the Imunim military base, noting that "the incident is being handled by the police."

A police spokesperson stated in a statement: "A report was received last night from a representative of the Ministry of Defense about a tank that was stolen from an Israeli military training base near the Elikim intersection." The spokesperson added: "Upon receiving the report, coastal district police officers began searching the area, and shortly after, officers from the Neshar station found the tank in a scrap yard in the Neshar area."

The spokesperson confirmed that "at the same time, and through the initial investigation into the circumstances of the case, it is suspected that the tank is inactive and was stolen from the scene for reasons currently under investigation." He continued: "As we mentioned, upon locating the stolen tank, a report was sent to the Ministry of Defense, and the police opened a joint investigation with the Ministry of Defense."
