Lebanese circles have been occupied with the issue of "drugs" after a video circulated on social media showing a young man losing control due to substance use. The details revealed that the clip was accompanied by a warning from security agencies about a dangerous new type of drug being promoted to youth in Lebanese markets, with lethal symptoms.
The video garnered interaction among social media users, demanding that the political authority intensify its efforts to combat this epidemic affecting society. In this regard, a security source informed "Al Arabiya.net" that the security agencies have not been able to determine the date of the video so far, affirming that the person shown is under the influence of "Crystal Meth," which is rapidly spreading among Lebanese youth, especially after the end of the COVID pandemic.
The source explained that "Crystal Meth" is a type of methamphetamine derived from "amphetamine." It is a stimulant that affects the mind, resulting in a feeling of increased energy, heightened alertness, and enhanced confidence. The source also noted that the reason for the rapid spread of this specific type is its low cost, with one gram costing 10 dollars, and emphasized that a significant percentage of those arrested for use are addicted to "Crystal Meth," stressing that this is a concerning rate because this drug directly affects the brain.
Furthermore, the concern about its wider spread in Lebanon is raised due to its synthetic composition, which is made from materials that enter the country legally under the guise of "medical substances" used in cleaning products. The report revealed that the highest percentage of individuals using "Crystal Meth" is found in the Beirut and Mount Lebanon governorates.
