Today, Tuesday in Amman, Environment Minister Nasser Yassin and his Jordanian counterpart Muawiya Al-Radaideh opened a regional meeting aimed at enhancing climate change adaptation, particularly in the water sector and the role of municipalities. The meeting is part of the "Resilient Water Management Solutions to Address Climate Change in Lebanon and Jordan" project, funded by a $13 million grant from the "Adaptation Fund," implemented by ESCWA and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in cooperation with the environment ministries of both countries. Minister Yassin emphasized "the importance of joint action to confront climate change and its repercussions, and to promote innovative solutions in sectors such as water management, sustainable agriculture, and the management of forests and natural reserves." He also pointed out "the need for industrialized countries to commit to their promises to finance climate change adaptation programs in developing countries, which has so far not exceeded 6% of what these countries pledged at climate summits."
