Recognition Award for "Health" in Geneva

On the sidelines of the 77th World Health Assembly held in Geneva, the Ministry of Public Health received the 2023 award from the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health, in recognition of its efforts related to the "Step by Step" program. The national mental health program closely collaborated with the World Health Organization to develop, test, and expand the "Step by Step" program, which is a scientifically proven, free digital self-help intervention based on guidance from the World Health Organization used for the treatment of depression. In this context, the Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Firas Abiad, thanked the World Health Organization, the team of the national mental health program at the Ministry of Public Health led by Rabi' Al-Shama'i, and all the partners who have been working with the ministry on this project since 2016 to date.
