In Cairo: Triangular Meeting to Discuss the Reopening of Rafah Crossing

A high-level Egyptian source revealed today, Saturday, that an Egyptian-American-Israeli meeting will be held in Cairo tomorrow, Sunday, to discuss the reopening of the Rafah crossing, amid Egypt's insistence on the complete Israeli withdrawal from it. The source stated, "Egypt has confirmed to all parties its unwavering position of not opening the Rafah crossing as long as Israeli control remains on the Palestinian side."

He added, "Egypt has assigned the Israeli side responsibility for the consequences of closing the Rafah crossing and the deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip." He pointed out that "there are intensive Egyptian efforts to return to ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip, in light of the proposal put forth by U.S. President Joe Biden to halt the war in Gaza."
