The Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture has predicted that the grain production for the current year will reach 5.51 million tons, reflecting a 62% increase from last year, which was marked by severe drought conditions. The ministry clarified on Friday that it expects to harvest 2.98 million tons of soft wheat, 1.18 million tons of hard wheat, and 1.35 million tons of barley. Additionally, it mentioned that rainfall has increased by 13% so far in 2023 compared to last year, although it remains about 36% lower than a normal year. The government based its 2023 budget proposal on growth expectations of 4.5% for the economy, assuming average rainfall and a grain harvest of 7.5 million tons.
