Three children in Puerto Rico experienced a tragic incident today, Tuesday, after being struck by lightning at a beach in the city of Isabela. They were transported to a hospital for treatment. According to the city police, the ages of the children range from 7 to 12 years old. In a statement, the police said, "The lightning struck a beach in the northern coastal town of Isabela due to stormy weather, resulting in the injury of three children, one of whom is in serious condition." It was noted that the children were taken to a hospital in the nearby town of Aguadilla, with the most severe injury affecting the oldest boy. Reports indicate that the annual death toll from lightning strikes is estimated to be around 250,000 people, with the majority of these fatalities occurring during accidents in outdoor work environments.
