A 40-year-old Italian woman left her teenage daughter on the side of a highway in Rome because she received a bad grade in Latin at school, according to Italian media reports. A police patrol found the 16-year-old girl on the highway during the busy afternoon hours, putting her life in danger. The police rescued her and took her to their station. The girl told the police, according to the newspaper "La Repubblica": "We argued because I got a bad grade in Latin, and my mom forced me to get out of the car." Italian newspapers reported that the girl is a good student and that her grade in this subject is an exception.
